Assisting the animal caretakers of our future.
Irene Cooper Educational Trust

The Trust was set up for longtime Pender Island resident and animal enthusiast, Irene Cooper. Perched on the cliffs overlooking the ocean on the Pender Island Bluff Ridge, Irene had a spectacular view of the southwest coast with bald Eagles nesting right outside her kitchen window.

As a testament to her wishes, the trust has been set up to help assist students who wish to pursue training and education in the field of veterinary medicine or treatment in Canada. Irene was very much in love with Pender Island and the Gulf Islands and it was her desire to see that people local to these areas be the first to receive monetary assistance for their education in Veterinary medicine. The trust has been set up to include any aspect of animal care from becoming a vet to being a veterinarian technician, to any animal care education. This includes any specialization in wild animals as well as domesticated animals. While veterinary medicine and care is the priority, this trust is also available for students of the conventional medical field.
